A senior faculty member of The Family Institute of Cambridge in Massachusetts and a retired clinical fellow of The Meadows Institute in Arizona, Terry has worked with thousands of individuals, couples, and fellow therapists for more than two decades.
A family therapist and teacher for more than twenty five years, Terry is the best-selling author of: I Don’t Want to Talk About It: Overcoming the Secret Legacy of Male Depression (Scribner, 1997), the straight-talking How Can I Get Through to You? Reconnecting Men and Women (Scribner, 2002), and most recently The New Rules of Marriage: What You Need to Make Love Work (Random House).
With its rigorous commonsense approach, Terry’s work speaks to both men and women leading couples on a step-by-step journey to greater intimacy and greater personal fulfillment. His ideas on men’s issues and on couples therapy have also been celebrated in various venues and publications from Good Morning America, The Today Show and 20/20, to Oprah and The New York Times.
Terry has been passionately committed for decades about giving individuals and couples both a map and a sophisticated toolkit for living truly relational lives lives of deep connection to themselves, to the people they love, and to the planet as a whole.
As part of his commitment to helping people become more conscious, thoughtful and intenttional individuals, he hopes that with this free summit, anyone can finally begin the journey towards creating the relationships that they deserve.
The Generation Regeneration Summit is not a passive viewing experience. It is a live, immersive gathering designed to shift how you see yourself, your surroundings, and your role in shaping what comes next. Each day builds on the last, taking you from inner clarity to outer action.
Understanding ourselves is one of the most important things we can do for our relationships. Our wounds from past trauma may not necessarily manifest in the present, but it is our adaptation to these wounds that can directly impact our connections with loved ones today.
For the first day of the summit, we’ll be diving deep into the neurobiology of trauma: how our subcortical limbic system plays a role in our reactive, self-defeating patterns, and how our pre-frontal cortex can help us make more conscious, thoughtful choices in our relationships.
With a clearer baseline of some of our core emotional wounds, we can begin the process of forming a more intimate and compassionate relationship with ourselves especially our most vulnerable and immature parts, in order to help them reintegrate and heal.
For the second day of the summit, we’ll be learning how to shift from our trauma-triggered, limbic-system, adaptive Inner Child to our present-based, pre-frontal-cortex, wise Adult Self as a way to reclaim our power within, with our partners, and in our relationships as a whole.
Zooming out to the cultural landscape is essential to understanding the dynamic of your own relationship, and that of your loved ones. From creating deeper intimacy with yourself and your partner, you can then expand that connection to the world around you.
For the last day of the summit, we’ll be discussing the evolution of relationships when it comes to our sexuality, our spirituality, and with nature. This last day is how all of us can shift our collective paradigm from power and control in society, to collaboration and equity for all.
Overarching: The effect trauma has on relationships and the effect relationships can have on trauma.
How Trauma shows up in couple relationships, and how you can use yourself and your relationship to heal
Healing trauma for deeper connection: What is emotional trauma? What helps us heal it?
The Summit begins on Tuesday at 6 AM PT | 9 AM ET | 2 PM BT
